OBSERVATIONS - SULPHURIC ACID
ICSE CHEMISTRY CLASS 10 - IMPORTANT OBSERVATIONS
SULPHURIC ACID
State your observations
1. Conc.
Sulphuric acid is added to penta hydrated Copper sulphate.
ANS: The blue colour of the copper sulphate crystals fades away and the crystals turn into amorphous powder.
2. Sugar
crystals are added to conc. Sulphuric acid.
ANS: Sugar crystals turn into brown colour and finally leaves a black spongy mass.
3. Dil.
Sulphuric acid added to Lead nitrate solution.
ANS: A white precipitate is formed.
4. The
gas released when Sodium chloride is heated with conc. Sulphuric acid, is
passed into a gas jar containing Ammonia gas.
ANS: When the gas is passed into a gas jar which contains Ammonia gas, it gives dense white fumes of Ammonium chloride.
5. Dil.
Sulphuric acid is added to a metal sulphide.
ANS: A clourless gas with rotten egg smell is produced. This gas turns Lead acetate paper to Silvery black.
