 Why Sulphuric acid can form two types of salts?

Dilute Sulphuric acid reacts with a base to form salt and water. Sulphuric acid is a dibasic acid and it can produce two types of anions i.e. Sulphate ion (SO₄^2-  ) and bisulphate ion (HSO₄^1- ) when it is dissolved in water. Hence Sulphuric acid can form two types salts i.e. a normal salt and an acid salt when it reacts with a base.

H₂SO₄ + NaOH  --> NaHSO₄ + H₂O

H₂SO₄ + 2NaOH  --> Na₂SO₄ + 2H₂O

b)      State your observations seen when:

i)        Conc. Sulphuric acid is added to Copper oxide.

ii)      Dil. Suplhuric acid is added to Barium chloride solution.

iii)    Conc. H₂SO₄ is added to blue copper sulphate.

c)      i) Name the gas released when Sulphur is treated with  Conc. Sulphuric acid.

      ii) Write balanced equation for the conversion of SO₂ to SO₃ in Contact process with conditions        if any.

      Give balanced equations for the reactions :

      iii) dil.H₂SO₄ reacts with ZnO

              iv) Copper to Copper sulphate using Conc. Sulphuric acid
